The 2012 USDA Action Plan for Science provided analysis of major challenges, including a changing climate, uncertain energy sources, rising childhood obesity rates, and food insecurity around the globe, and identified USDA science agency roles in addressing these challenges.
On July 24th, 2012, USDA’s Office of the Chief Scientist released peer-reviewed science papers that elaborate on the Action Plan in several key areas:
- Global Food Security
- Nutrition and Childhood Obesity
- Climate Change
- Food Safety
- Sustainable Agricultural Systems
