Front-page treatment for Babcock Hall upgrade plan

The campaign to raise money to upgrade dairy facilities at Babock Hall got some prominent ink Monday morning: It was featured on the front page of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

The plan calls for a state-of-the-art dairy plant and a “glassy” three-story building for the Center for Dairy Research, the article says. The state’s dairy industry is highly motivated, it adds, partly because “the (current) outdated building is an embarassment to America’s Dairyland.”

“If the Green Bay Packers or the Wisconsin Badgers football or basketball teams had a facility like this, they wouldn’t be able to attract recruits or free agents,” says a quote by Dave Fuhrmann, head of Baraboo-based Foremost Farms and co-chair of a North America-wide fundraising campaign for the renovation.
