A message last week from Col. Darrel D. “AJ” Feucht, leader of the Wisconsin National Guard’s 82nd Agricultural Development Team that was on campus last summer for an Ag 101 course:
“The team is in it’s final days of post mobilization training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. The advanced party will be leaving soon and the rest of the team will follow in the days to come. We had good training at Camp Atterbury. The weather has been great here except for the day of the tornados. The devastation occurred about 60 miles to our south. It was a rather ominous day and our prayers are with those families.
“We are ready to go. Our training is nearly complete. We are in continuous contact with the IL Team at Camp Wright, Asadabad, Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Task Force Illini is eagerly waiting our arrival, preparations have been made to conduct the transition and they are ready to make their way home. I cannot say enough about the professionalism of the brothers and sisters to the south. They have treated us very well. The agriculture team has been working with their Illinois counter part regarding projects. The security force has been working with their counterparts as well. All in all, everything is pretty much going according to plan.”
