Visitor & Information Programs is recruiting tour guides for next spring

Visitor & Information Programs is looking for outgoing and enthusiastic students to serve as Information Guides and Tour Guides beginning in Spring 2012.

Tour guides conduct daily walking tours of campus and educate groups about academics, campus life, history, traditions, and university achievements. Tours include: prospective student and family visits hosted by the Office of Admissions, customized campus tours, elementary and middle school field trips, and new faculty and staff tours.

Information Guides assist students, faculty and staff, prospective students and their families, visitors, and members of the community access information about the campus and surrounding area through the Campus and Community Information Welcome Desk at Union South, at the Welcome Center at 21 N. Park Street, and at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. They serve clients in person, over the phone, by e-mail, and through live chat.

Working as a Tour Guide or Information Guide is a great springboard to other career opportunities regardless of field of interest. In these positions, students will sharpen their communication, problem-solving, customer service, and leadership skills while working in a fun, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
