Dan Gianola, Professor of Animal Sciences, will receive the Hans Fischer Senior Fellowship by the Institute of Advanced Study of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Under the Fellowship (valued at approximately 160,000 Euro), he will develop joint research and teaching activities with TUM colleagues, mainly Prof. Chris-Caroline Schoen in plant genetics and breeding at TUM, and Prof. Henner Simianer (Georg-August University, Goettingen). He will also bring some German scholars for visits to the UW-Madison campus. The award is named for Hans Fischer, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1930.
