A meeting of CALS communicators will take place tomorrow, Oct. 27, from 9—10:30 a.m. in room 1360 of the Genetics/Biotechnology Center building (425 Henry Mall). Hot beverages and bagels will be served.
At the meeting, representatives from University Communications and the Wisconsin Alumni Association will discuss how their organizations are using social networking tools and offer advice about how individual departments, centers and institutes can best plug into these online services/communities.
The presentation and discussion will be led by:
- Kate Dixon, director of media and public relations at WAA. Kate is overseeing WAA’s foray into Facebook and Twitter.
- James Ellis, web director at WAA. James set up WAA’s @buckybadger account on Twitter, and is now tweeting messages to more than 1,960 followers.
- John Lucas, university relations specialist at University Communications. Lucas Twitters for University Communications as @UWMadisonNews and also helps develop strategy for the use of social networking sites.
- Nick Weaver, online news director at University Communications. Nick led his unit’s efforts to get UW-Madison on Facebook, Twitter and iTunesU, and now helps manage these accounts.
