Funding focus: NIH enabling national networking of scientists and resource discovery
This program provides funds to develop, enhance, or extend infrastructure for connecting people and resouces to facilitate national discovery of individuals and of scientific resources to scientists and students to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and scientific exchange.
The maximum award is $7,500,000 per year. Awards are limited to two years. Responsive proposals will fall into one of two categories. Research networking tools that provide national visibility of human resources (scientists, investigators, physicians, clinicians, other experts) in all areas relevant to biomedical research to enhance collaboration and facilitate biomedical research. Resource discovery could include web portal that allows comprehensive querying of resources irrespective of source and type of resource. The types of resources should include the whole range of possible resources that scientists utilize in their work.
Eligibility:
UW-Madison is limited to one proposal.

Notice of intent: Send an email message to gsgrants@bascom.wisc.edu with “NIH-National Networking ” in the subject line by Monday, May 18, 2009 to inform us of your intention to submit a proposal. Please include the following in your email message:
- Name of PI
- 3-5 sentence summary of proposal
PIs will be notified if an internal competition is needed. For the candidate selected, the application is due at NIH by Monday, June 15, 2009. The application must be submitted via paper.
