Nominate by May 18 for Honorary Recognition, Distinguished Service, Distinguished Alumni awards

I am pleased to announce and invite nominations for the 2009 College of Agricultural and Life Sciences Honorary Recognition Award, Distinguished Service Award, and Distinguished Alumni Award.

Over the past 100 years, the College has recognized 495 individuals for their outstanding service with the Honorary Recognition Award. Each has given unselfishly of time and talent, improved the lives of many, and enriched society for us all. In 1994, the College introduced the Distinguished Service Award to recognize University faculty and staff members for meritorious service to the College and University, to citizens of Wisconsin, and to people around the nation and the world. This year the College is proud to mark the inaugural year of the Distinguished Alumni Award, which recognizes a career of outstanding achievement through extraordinary contributions to one’s chosen field or an exemplary record of public service.

Attached is nomination information for each award and a list of recent honorees. Nominations are due May 18, 2009. As you consider possible nominees, I encourage you to think about those individuals with whom you have worked over the years who have demonstrated leadership and been an inspiration to others in agriculture, natural resources and/or the life sciences.

The CALS Honorary Recognition Banquet is an opportunity to celebrate the connection between the College and its friends, supporters and stakeholders. The banquet will be held on October 15, 2009 in the Great Hall, Memorial Union, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Please contact Arla Dauscher, CALS External Relations (adauscher@cals.wisc.edu, 608-262-5784) for additional information.
