Ben Brancel joins the College to help plan the future of CALS Research Stations
It is a great pleasure to announce our newest member of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences — Ben Brancel. Ben has been hired on a 25 percent project appointment to serve as our new State Relations Liaison with the initial primary responsibility to work with our ARS leadership to plan for the future of the Wisconsin Agricultural Research Stations. As the face of agriculture and natural resources is continually changing, Ben will assist with an evaluation of our current research operations and help build the infrastructure and grow the resource base to support our applied research today and in the future.
Through his past experience in the state legislature, the state executive branch and the federal government, Ben is an ideal candidate to expand and strengthen the partnerships between CALS, commodity organizations and state partners in order to secure a strong and growing resource base so that we may continue our commitment to applied research and Extension/outreach in service of Wisconsin.
Both Ben and I look forward to having direct conversations with you and listening to your successes, challenges and thoughts on the future of applied research and science in the state. Ben will be advised by a faculty committee, in coordination with other existing CALS committees. We would be most interested to hear from any of you who might like to be part of this process.
During his project assignment, Ben will be housed in the Dean’s Office, 140 Agricultural Hall, Madison, WI 53706. His e-mail is bbrancel@cals.wisc.edu.
Please join me in welcoming Ben to the CALS community. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
