More than 1,000 FFA students from 25 Wisconsin high schools took part in the Hockey Extravaganza, an annual event hosted by UW-Madison’s Collegiate FFA chapter (CFFA). This year’s attendance was the largest in the event’s history, making it the second-biggest FFA event in Wisconsin, ranking behind only the State FFA Convention.

Begun as a way to introduce FFA students to life at UW-Madison, the event offers students from around the state a dose of UW spirit and traditions.

Due to the large turnout, this year’s event included twin pep rallies – one at Agricultural Hall and one at the Microbial Sciences Building. Both events featured pizza and appearances by the UW Marching Band and Bucky Badger.

Originally conceived as a local event, the Hockey Extravaganza now draws students from more than 200 miles away. “It’s so thrilling to be able to share the excitement of UW-Madison with so many students,” says Sheri Nelson, vice president of UW-Madison’s CFFA and co-chair of the event.
