New LTE “living wage” minimum to be implemented January 4, 2009

UW-Madison has committed to paying LTE employees a Living Wage as defined by the City of Madison. Effective January 4, 2009, the rate of $11.21 has been identified by the City as the new Living Wage. Campus will be proceeding to make needed LTE wage adjustments in order to meet our commitment. All LTE appointments below $11.21 will be automatically moved to the new rate as of January 4, 2009.

There are some LTE employees with titles in the Blue Collar Bargaining Unit who can’t be placed at the City of Madison Living Wage because the minimum of their classification is $11.063 (ex. Custodians, Groundskeepers). For LTEs in these titles below $11.063, their rate of pay will automatically be moved to $11.063 as of January 4, 2009.

Rate Title Change Notices will be generated for distribution to employees receiving this increase.
