USDA gives update on new Research, Education and Extension Office

The Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008, implemented on June 22, 2008 (a.k.a. the Farm Bill) calls for the establishment of the Research, Education and Extension Office. The REEO’s mission is to a) identify and prioritize current ag research, education and extension programs; b) ensure that these programs are effectively coordinated and integrated across disciplines, agencies and institutions and among participants, grantees and beneficiaries; and c) foster communication among all parties to ensure the delivery of ag research, education and extension knowledge. In a letter to scientists, educators and stakeholders, USDA Chief Scientist Gale Buchanan outlines progress in establishing the REEO.
