Chris Boerboom honored by Mid America CropLife Association
The Mid America CropLife Association presented its Educator of the Year Award to Chris Boerboom, a Professor iof Agronomy at the UW-Madison. Boerboom’s extension program is focused on providing annual weed management information for field corn, sweet corn, and soybean.
Boerboom provides training on herbicide mode of action, injury symptoms, and diagnostic skills. As a faculty coordinator, he guides the Pesticide Applicator Training Program and IPM Program for Wisconsin.
He has been a leader for many years on many issues important to our industry including Resistance Management, Water Quality Protection serving on the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Atrazine Technical Advisory Committee and he continues to be a strong advocate for sound science and responding to the needs of producers.
The award was first presented in 1978. It is designed to recognize demonstrated evidence of significant contributions to American agriculture, especially in the MACA region. Dr. Boerboom received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Agronomy with an emphasis on weed science from the University of Minnesota.
