Gail Stirr has accepted a position as Assistant Administrative Director of the UW Eye Research Institute on campus, effective May 5th. We appreciate Gail’s commitment to CALS over the past five years and congratulation her, as she takes on this new career opportunity.
Gail’s work in the Research Division focused on research compliance. Her position was created to help faculty and staff in CALS meet their compliance needs for animal research, human subjects research, conflict of interest management, and a variety of other areas. Gail was instrumental in helping CALS attain AAALAC accreditation in 2007, a pioneering and far-reaching accomplishment that brought our animal research community great recognition and respect.
Throughout her stay in the Research Division, Gail’s careful handling of a wide variety of tasks enabled much research at the college and campus level. In addition, she helped foster key relationships with state and campus stakeholders that will continue to be important for the college to maintain and build. We count ourselves lucky to have worked with Gail in her role as our compliance specialist, and also fortunate to have had someone with her skills pave new territory in research administration for CALS.
