Farm law and tax specialist Phil Harris and soils specialist Dick Wolkowski have received the 2008 Second Mile Award from the Wisconsin Association of County Agricultural Agents. Harris is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. Wolkowski is an Outreach Program Manager in the Department of Soil Science.
The agricultural agents group presents the Second Mile Award each year to recognize the outreach efforts of one or two statewide UW-Extension specialists. Both 2008 award winners have been crisscrossing the state for years, collaborating with Extension agents to educate farmers and agricultural professionals on key issues. Harris helps farmers keep abreast of tax law changes, issues related to intergenerational transfer of farms and similar matters. Wolkowski presents information related to soil quality, evaluation of alternative tillage system, and many other topics. This entry was posted in Awards and honors, People and Departments by jsindelar.
