Evelyn Anne Howell, Department of Landscape Architecture, has been named National Academies Education Fellow in the Life Sciences for the 2007-2008 academic year. Howell earns this distinction by virtue of her selection to and enthusiastic participation in the 2007 National Academies Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education in Biology that took place in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Summer Institute is the direct result of a key recommendation of the 2003 National Research Council report Bio2010: Transforming Undergraduate Education for Future Research Biologists, which called for faculty development efforts to engage faculty at research-intensive institutions in taking greater responsibility for high-quality undergraduate biology education.
