An international symposium on climate change will be held in St. Petersburg, Florida from June 10–13. Deadline for abstracts has been extended to March 1.
Climate Information for Managing Risks (CIMR) is an international symposium that will provide a forum for the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas among diverse participants from universities, agriculture and natural resource managers, and other decision makers that might use climate information. Participants in CIMR will help to identify priorities and plan strategies for climate research, education, and outreach that are needed to assure that decision makers have relevant and valuable climate information. An important element of the CIMR Symposium will be to explore opportunities and needs for applying global climate information at the local and regional levels, with local and regional examples coming from throughout the nation and world.
CIMR will address three objectives:
- To provide a forum for climate professionals and agricultural and natural resource managers to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas.
- To identify priorities and plan strategies for future climate research, education, and outreach that will enable universities, agencies, and organizations to provide climate information for decision makers in agriculture and natural resource management.
- To explore opportunities and needs for developing climate information and decision support systems, as well as how to downscale and apply global climate information at both regional and local levels.
