Smithsonian Institution grants – apply by Jan. 15

The Smithsonian Institution offers a number of fellowship programs for graduate students and postdocs. Note the deadline for all of these is January 15.

10-Week Graduate Student Fellowships. Through this program Ph.D. students can conduct research for 10 weeks under the guidance of a Smithsonian staff member. Application deadline: January 15.

Predoctoral Fellowships.
This program is for investigators who have completed preliminary course work and examinations for the Ph.D. and are engaged in dissertation research. It allows them to conduct a research project of 3 to 12 months under the guidance of a Smithsonian staff member. Application deadline: January 15.

Postdoctoral Fellowships. This program allows investigators who have completed a doctoral degree within 7 years to conduct research for 3 to 12 months at the Smithsonian. Application deadline: January 15.

Senior Postdoctoral Fellowships. This program is for investigators more than 7 years beyond a Ph.D. degree who wish to conduct research for 3 to 12 months. The stipend will often be matched by other sources of funding such as sabbatical salary. Application deadline: January 15.
