The Dissertation Calculator, available on the website of the campus Center for Instructional Materials & Computing, enables graduate students to enter start and anticipated completion dates to generate a step-by-step dissertation plan of action. From understanding departmental expectations, through literature reviews, conducting research, writing and even getting closure, it covers all important steps in the process. Along the way, there are concrete suggestions for successfully completing each stage.
Another important resource for graduate students, of course, is the student’s Liaison Librarian. By working with a liaison librarian from early on, students can maximize their efficiency in using library resources, conducting a thorough literature review, manage citations effectively, and keep up to date with new relevant literature throughout the dissertation process.
