The College welcomes Sarah Pfatteicher, who will become Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Services on August 13. “Sarah will have a major role in leadership and management of the office and serve as my chief academic officer when I am away or unavailable,” explains Bob Ray, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs and Services.
Pfatteicher comes to CALS after serving for 11 years in the College of Engineering, most recently as an assistant dean in Engineering Academic Affairs and as a research professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She has also held appointments in the College of Letters and Science and in the School of Medicine and Public Health. She earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in History of Science from the UW-Madison and an A.B. in physics and mathematics from Smith College.
“Sarah’s prior experience in leadership of academic programs and services give her insight into innovations that will improve the quality and efficiency of the office, says CALS dean Molly Jahn. I look to her for ideas and direction for promoting changes that lead to program enhancement.”
Pfatteicher will provide oversight of a number of student services including, academic advising, recruitment and retention of students, and strategic planning and leadership. She will also work with the honors program, academic assessment, student transition programs including the Freshman Seminar, as well as counseling students, meeting prospective students and their families, and assisting faculty with academic issues and concerns.This entry was posted in Teaching & Advising by jsindelar.
