Assistant Professor David Bart has joined the faculty of the Department of Landscape Architecture. His research interests involve identifying human causes of environmental changes and applying the findings to environmental conservation and restoration, with a recent focus on plant invasions.
With research experience in the United States, Canada, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, he has explored the use of local ecological knowledge in managing plant invasions; strategies to prevent re-invasion after restoration; and the subtle ways human activities cause invasions. Bart received his Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, and also holds an advanced degree in Anthropology from the same institution. His training in these fields positions him to conduct the interdisciplinary research required by his research interests.
