UW Hemp Research Symposium to be held on Apr. 20

The Ellison Lab in the Horticulture Department at the University of Wisconsin–Madison invites you to join us for a symposium about the latest hemp research being conducted here at the UW.

The event will be held Thursday, Apr. 20 from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in Moore Hall 128, with coffee and donuts starting at 8:45 a.m. Please register in advance at go.wisc.edu/xd7d34.

Presentations will be given in a “speed run” format, with 10 minute presentations followed by 5 minutes for Q&A.

Presentations will be given by UW faculty, staff, graduate students, as well as members of Extension focusing on their respective research priorities including:

  • Using Data to Select Compliant Cultivars (Phillip Alberti)
  • Efforts to preserve and characterize hemp germplasm (Dr. Ademola Aina)
  • IPM Diagnostic Tool Development (Dr. Derrick Grunwald)
  • Understanding Anthocyanin Accumulation in Cannabis (Sean Kim)
  • Genetic Engineering and Editing of Cannabis and Associated Trait Targets (Dr. Mike Peterson)
  • Companion cropping in hemp (Grace Connelly)
  • Evaluation of hemp fiber production and quality (Autumn Brown)
  • IR-4 Program and Hemp Research (Scott Chapman)
  • Hands on Hemp: Textiles, Paper, Mycelium Hemp and Hempcrete (Dr. Marianne Fairbanks)
