UW Oshkosh webinar on men advancing gender equity in STEM – Mar. 30
The ADVANCE UWO NSF Grant team is hosting our first webinar on Mar. 30 titled “Men ADVANCING Gender Equity in STEM”. The webinar is inspired by climate studies that examine equity and inclusion among faculty that reveal widespread gender and racial disparities in higher education. Chilly department climates that women, black, indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ (LGBTQ+) faculty experience have been well-documented in research. These findings from national research were echoed in the findings of a STEM Faculty/IAS Climate survey conducted at UW-Oshkosh in 2021, as well.
In this webinar, panelists will discuss:
- Their own experiences in supporting equity initiatives;
- How they have served as equity advocates and allies at their institution; and
- Advice they have to anyone looking to step up as an ally or advocate for equity.
