File annual Outside Activities Report by April 30
It is that time of year to file your annual Outside Activities Report (OAR)! All faculty, academic staff with a 50% or greater appointment, and anyone listed on a sponsored project or involved in human subjects research must file an OAR annually by April 30. Visit https://oar.wisc.edu/ to find information and to login and file your report.
For more information on what and what not to report, visit https://research.wisc.edu/kb-article/?id=32879.
Within the OAR you must also submit a Conflict of Commitment (CoC) Time Commitment Request if your total aggregate time spent on outside activities exceeds 2 days per month, and/or if you are applying for or accepting grants or funding in association with an outside entity for research or scholarship or teaching a course for another college or university. Find instructions for CoC submission here at https://oar.wisc.edu/homepage/mp4/time_commitment_request.mp4.
Remember to :
- Update your OAR within 30 days of any changes to your outside activities during the calendar year
- Submit a new CoC request at least 20 days prior to beginning the time commitment to a new outside professional activity
You must receive approval in advance of engaging in the outside professional activity when a potential conflict of commitment exists.
OAR and CoC reporting are required in accordance with UW–Madison Conflict of Interest Policy (UW-4001) and Conflict of Commitment (CoC) Policy (UW-1075).
