Global Health Symposium explores connections between health, climate and equity – Apr. 19
The 2022 Global Health Symposium, “Making Connections: Health, Climate & Equity,’’ presented in person and via live stream on April 19, explores the many ways to advance climate and health equity across the world. It also marks the 10th anniversary of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Global Health Institute (GHI).
Keynote speaker Jalonne White-Newsome, Ph.D., M.S., founder and CEO of Empowering a Green Environment and Economy, LLC, will discuss “Your Health is My Health: Advancing Climate Justice in the U.S. and Beyond.” A panel of current and past GHI leaders will look at “A Future of Hope: Putting the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals to Work.” UW-Madison poster presenters from eight schools and colleges will share their global health projects, from COVID to cancer to climate change.
Registration begins at 4:30 p.m.; the program at 5:00 p.m. in the Health Sciences Learning Center. The evening is co- hosted by GHI and the Office of Global Health in the School of Medicine and Public Health.
