Featured photos: Researchers assess dairy barn camera footage in Dorea lab
The research and outreach program of Joao Dorea, assistant professor of animal and dairy sciences, focuses on dairy-related applications of precision agriculture and data analysis. His team uses cameras to monitor calf behavior to assess animal health. They also use cameras to measure growth, with the goal of seeing how calf growth patterns correlate with the animal’s future milk yield and composition and ability to successfully reproduce.
The photos below were taken for the Dairy Innovation Hub Annual Report by CALS photographer Michael P. King on Thursday, July 22, 2021, prior to changes in indoor face covering guidelines that became effective August 5.
