This event presents grant seeking strategies for domestic and international postdocs and senior doctoral students. Discover various funder types, funding mechanisms and strategies to enhance your grant writing skills. This session is open to all postdocs and doctoral students at participating institutions.

During this session, presenters will discuss how to:
- Tailor your search based on citizenship, discipline, and career stage;
- Assess your fit for funding opportunities (with a private foundation focus);
- Enhance your grant writing and networking skills (including how to engage with program officers); and,
- Start the submission process at your institution.
This session will be led by James Gentry, Director of Postdoctoral Affairs (Ohio State) and Kaylee Steen, Associate Director of Professional Development and Trainee Support (University of Michigan Medical School). James and Kaylee both have substantial experience with the grant seeking and grant writing pre-award process for both private foundation and federal funding opportunities.
Resources to support grant seeking and grant writing activities as well as institution-specific information concerning how trainees can submit grant proposals at participating institutions will be shared with attendees at the conclusion of the event.
