Gradmixture lunch for grad students and postdocs interested in evolution – Oct. 22
Gradmixture is a casual interdisciplinary lunch group fostering community among grad students, postdocs and early career staff interested in evolution. The first Gradmixture of the year will be held this Thursday, Oct. 22.
This session will feature Early Career Awardee Jasen Liu, a postdoc from Santiago Ramirez’s Lab at UC Davis. It will take place on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., location TBD (but probably Genetics/Biotech 1423). Liu’s talk, “Macroevolution of Perfume Flowers,” will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Microbial Sciences 1420.
Abstract: Specialized pollination systems provide great opportunities to understand how pollinators influence the evolution of floral traits. In this talk, I explore how a unique group of pollinators have influenced evolutionary processes across scales of biological organization in tropical American orchids.
