DoIT transitioning university Microsoft 365 accounts from A3 to A5 licenses
This email was sent by DoIT Communications on Oct. 14.
Beginning Sunday, October 18, DoIT will transition university Microsoft 365 accounts from A3 licenses to A5 licenses. This will only affect accounts that currently have A3 licenses — paid faculty/staff and enrolled students.
Impact
This change will happen behind the scenes and will not disrupt university services, email routing, client configurations or existing application settings.
Microsoft will send an automated email notice to A5 licensees about Teams Audio Conferencing. Please reassure department members that this is expected and legitimate.
Under the hood, A5 licenses will make our AI environment safer and lower Microsoft cloud storage costs. We will review and add more A5 features in future updates.
New features
- Audio conferencing enabled: Meeting organizers will now automatically have a telephone dial-in number and conference ID included in newly scheduled Teams meeting invitations.
- Dial-in functionality: This allows meeting participants to dial in by telephone when internet connectivity is poor or when joining from a device without internet access.
- No action required: Organizers do not need to alter their meeting settings or reschedule existing meetings.
Note: Service accounts are not eligible for Teams Audio Conferencing.
Questions?
If you or your teams have any questions regarding the transition, please feel free to reach out directly to the PCS Team or the DoIT Help Desk.
