September is National Preparedness Month — a perfect time to assemble or check on your emergency kits. Wisconsin Emergency Management has great resources below for preparing emergency kits on their ReadyWisconsin website:

• Home Emergency Kit – A home emergency kit keeps your family safe and comfortable in an emergency. Checklists are available that include items for older adults, people with physical disabilities, and people with special needs including autism.
• To Go Kit – A “go bag” for each member of your household prepares them to leave as quickly as possible.
• Vehicle Emergency Kit – Some crucial supplies should be kept in your vehicle so you can be prepared for being stranded or unable to return home due to a disaster. A list of additional items is included for winter months.
• Pet Emergency Kit – Building a kit for your pet helps them evacuate quickly with you.
