Court issues injunction on USDA’s new General Terms and Conditions for federal awards
For the past several months, UW-Madison has not been accepting new USDA awards due to new terms and conditions challenged in a multistate lawsuit in which Wisconsin is participating. Following a hearing on June 2, a federal judge issued a temporary injunction that prohibits the USDA from enforcing these terms while the challenge proceeds through the legal process.
Associate Dean for Research and Extension Troy Runge says, “With the injunction, we have cleared some hurdles to accept new USDA grants. We expect additional updates from UW’s Office Legal Affairs, and we will share more information as it becomes available.”
Following normal practices, P.I.s should work with department administrators before initiating any spending on new awards.
