Dairy Innovation Hub seeks proposals for trainee and capacity building equipment grants
The Dairy Innovation Hub is accepting UW–Madison CALS proposals for three open calls:
- Capacity building equipment
- Graduate student/postdoc trainees
- Collaboratively mentored trainees with UW-Platteville or UW-River Falls.
In 2019, the Dairy Innovation Hub launched with a $7.8 million per year investment by the State of Wisconsin to build a world-class talent pool and enable bold discoveries to ensure that Wisconsin’s dairy community is at the global forefront in producing nutritious dairy products in an economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable manner.
The Hub seeks proposals that will fund research to work on innovative and impactful dairy-related research that relates to one of the following priority areas prioritized by the Hub:
- Stewarding Land and Water Resources
- Enriching Human Health and Nutrition
- Ensuring Animal Health and Welfare
- Growing Farm Businesses and Communities
Main objectives of these research funding opportunities include increasing research and training capacity, funding novel research projects that benefit the Wisconsin dairy community and promoting resiliency of dairy-related research in Wisconsin.
Funding is available to CALS faculty and staff with active PI status. Awards for capital equipment will begin in FY27 (July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027). Funding for trainee grants begins FY28. All proposals will be accepted via Qualtrics and must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. (CST) on the following dates.
- Capacity building capital equipment – due Fri., April 3, 2026
- Trainee (graduate student or postdoc) – due Fri., June 5, 2026
- Collaboratively mentored trainee – due Fri., June 26, 2026
