Update on search for CALS associate dean for graduate education

Earlier this year, Dean Glenda Gillaspy formed a search committee for a new associate dean of graduate education (ADGE). The ADGE will work with both graduate students and postdoctoral scientists to ensure their impacts and issues are recognized and addressed by the college.

The search began with a focus on internal CALS candidates. After further discussion and careful consideration, Dean Gillaspy has elected to reopen the posting to the broader UW campus community.

“This will allow the college to consider a larger and more diverse pool of applicants, including the internal CALS employees who have already expressed interest and submitted applications,” Gillaspy says. “I recognize that expanding the search will extend the posting period by several weeks. However, I am confident that this approach will provide the college with the strongest possible pool of qualified candidates.”

The ADGE will be a critical leadership role for CALS, so every effort will be made to identify an experienced and highly qualified individual who can advance the support and services the college provides its graduate students and postdoctoral trainees. All are welcome to share the job posting with others who may be interested in applying.
