Retirement celebration for Kurt Pickar on Feb. 5
The Dairy Forage Research Station will be holding an open house and luncheon on Feb. 5 to celebrate the retirement of Kurt Pickar. The celebration will be at the research station, located at S8822 Sunset Dr. in Prairie Du Sac, WI. The event will take place from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. with a ceremony at 1:00 p.m. with Mike Peters, director of the Agricultural Research Stations.

Kurt Pickar is retiring after 42 years at the Dairy Forage Research Station. His first day of work was January 16, 1984. He started as an entry level feeder for the dairy cattle and became lead feeder in 2008.
Pickar has worked with several researchers from both UW and the USDA. His commitment to his job has ensured that the research is accurate with the main goal of helping farmers around the globe. He has earned many certificates and awards including the Classified Staff Recognition award twice.
Besides being a dedicated employee, Pickar is also an avid runner. He runs multiple 5k and 10k events each year throughout Wisconsin, often medaling. He has also competed in a full marathon.
