UW System announced progress on a new policy that would ensure all core general education courses transfer between UW universities. The new policy would guarantee core general education requirements, ranging from 30 to 36 credit hours in 10 to 12 courses across six curricular categories, could transfer and apply towards graduation requirements at other UW universities. This move comes in response to a provision in the 2025-27 state budget that requires the UW System to increase credit transferability between campuses. The Board of Regents is expected to consider and approve a finalized policy in November 2025.
