Registration open for Teaching Academy’s Fall Retreat on Oct. 3

All are invited to the UW Teaching Academy’s Fall Retreat, which is set for Friday, October 3 from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. The theme for the retreat is “Navigating Challenges and Finding Common Ground: Teaching & Learning in Divided Times.”

This will be a hybrid event. The in-person option will take place in the DeLuca Forum in the Discovery Building, where a light breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 a.m. People can also participate via Zoom, which will open at 8:45 a.m.

Description:

In an era of polarization, technological change and evolving communication landscapes, how can educators foster genuine listening, bridge differences and help students connect across diverse perspectives, disciplines and communities? Join invited panelists and educators from across campus to build practices that foster resilience and reaffirm the vitality of education in divided times.

Panelists include:

  • Lynn Glueck (Program Director, The Discussion Project and the UW-Madison Deliberation Dinners)
  • Carol Spoehr (PhD Candidate, Rehabilitation Psychology & Special Education)
  • Travis Wright (Faculty Director, Morgridge Center for Public Service and Associate Professor, Counseling Psychology)
