Tom Hartman named CALS IT Director

Tom Hartman, the acting director of CALS’ Information Technology, has been selected as the next director of CALS IT. In this role, Tom leads IT services across the college, providing strategic oversight and accountability for desktop support, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, and research computing and data services. CALS web services are housed in External Relations.
Earlier this academic year, CALS centralized all IT positions previously based in academic departments into the CALS IT office. Tom will oversee a team of 21 IT professionals and work closely with DOIT and other IT leaders across UW–Madison.
“We are excited to have Tom in this role,” says Associate Dean for Strategy, Operations and Finance Angie Seitler. “He brings management experience and a great deal of knowledge about college operations.”
