UHS and UWPD hosting medication take-back events – Apr. 23 & 24
University Health Services, in partnership with UWPD, is hosting two medication take-back events this spring. UW–Madison students, faculty, staff and visitors can drop off unused, unwanted or expired medications for safe disposal at:
- Dejope Hall: April 23, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Gordon Dining & Event Center: April 24, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Why drop off medications?
Safe medication storage and disposal helps keep our campus community safe by preventing misuse, overdose and other harm. It also helps us protect the environment and prevents contamination that can poison people, pets and wildlife. As we approach the end of the academic year, many students and members of our campus community are preparing for upcoming moves. These events provide an opportunity for students to safely dispose of medications.
What medications can be dropped off?
You can dispose of most prescription and over-the-counter medications (like vitamins, cold medicine and Tylenol) at a medication take-back event. This includes pills, liquids, creams, powders and patches, as well as inhalers and nebulizer solution. Some items cannot be accepted at medication take-back events, such as sharps, vapes/vape batteries and illegal drugs.
