Slesinger Lecture: Tim Slack to discuss “Rural and Small Town America: Myths and Misunderstandings” on Mar. 13
The Department of Community and Environmental Sociology is welcoming Tim Slack, professor of sociology at Louisiana State University, to give the Slesinger Lecture in 2025. The event will take place on March 13 at 2:30 p.m. in 354 Agricultural Hall. His talk is entitled “Rural and Small Town America: Myths and Misunderstandings”.
Slack is an undergrad alumnus of the community and environmental sociology program and worked with Doris Peyser Slesinger, namesake of the lecture series who did pioneering work with migrant farm workers for more than two decades. Now at Louisiana State University, Slack studies social stratification and social demography, with a focus on rural populations and rural-urban differences.
