Rick Lindroth receives Fulbright Specialist Award to support chemical ecology research in Argentina

Rick Lindroth, professor emeritus in the Department of Entomology, was selected to receive a Fulbright Specialist Award to support a chemical ecology research project underway at the University of Buenos Aries in Argentina. Lindroth’s partner in Argentina is Patricia Fernandez, a faculty member in the University of Buenos Aries’ agronomy department.
The Fulbright Specialist Program, part of the larger Fulbright Program, is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in short-term project-based exchanges in countries around the world. The program pairs academics with host institutions to share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other cultures while building capacity and supporting the priorities and goals of the host institutions.
During Lindroth’s visit to Argentina, which will take place this March, he will provide training to staff and graduate students on analytical chemistry methods for plants. The trainees will utilize those methods in a project to assess the responses of willow trees to stress caused by herbivores and climate change. Lindroth will also give several lectures to different faculty groups and be a guest on a local podcast.
