ODEI thanks 2024 CALS climate survey respondents

The CALS Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI) thanks members of the CALS community for participating in the 2024 CALS climate survey. It takes time, thought and effort to fill out the survey, and DOEI is thankful for the 734 people who shared their perspectives, a 36% response rate. Responses are now being aggregated and analyzed by the UW Survey Center.

The ODEI is looking forward to reviewing the results and sharing them with the CALS community. To reiterate, results will only be reported in the aggregate. Responses are de-identified and individual responses will not be shared. The ODEI prioritizes confidentiality and protecting the individuals within the CALS community. The aggregated results will provide a snapshot of CALS overall climate, as well as the climate of units within CALS. Unit-specific results will only be reported for those with at least a sample size of ten people.

Survey results will serve as conversation starters with CALS leadership and units to identify areas of need, strengths and opportunities to improve CALS climate for all graduate students, staff and faculty. Using the results, CALS will make data-informed follow-up and action plans.

What to expect next:

  • January-March 2025: Aggregation and analysis of results by UW Survey Center & ODEI
  • May 2025: Sharing of survey results for CALS overall
  • Fall 2025: Sharing of survey results for units and groups

Please note that this is the planned timeline and dates may change depending on circumstances. Contact ODEI at odei@cals.wisc.edu with any questions.
