Casey Tice is new mental health provider for CALS students

Casey Tice is the new embedded mental health provider through CALS. Embedded providers are mental health counselors employed through University Health Services (UHS) with offices around campus. Tice is available starting Nov. 18 and will split her time between UHS and 116 Agricultural Hall. She reports to Curt Lauderdale, assistant dean for student advising and development in Academic Affairs.

What is your background?

I have more than a decade of experience working in the mental health field with young adults as well as all clients across the lifespan. Using a variety of approaches, my clinical interests include working with students on anxiety, depression, attention concerns and generally navigating college life.

What is your availability?

I will be in-office in Agricultural Hall all day Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons, and I will be remote on Wednesdays. I have 10 hours each week reserved for individual counseling for CALS students, as well as a planned Let’s Talk section for brief drop-in consultations with students on Tuesday afternoons.

What should faculty and staff do if they have questions about supporting student mental health?

Throughout my five years at UHS, I gathered a wealth of information on mental health services and resources both on and off campus. Faculty and staff are encouraged to reach out if they have questions about how to best to support a student, resources and options that may be available, how to help connect a student to resources, or any situation that may be come up where it would be helpful to consult. You can reach me directly at casey.tice@wisc.edu

How can students connect with you?

Students can call our MHS Front Desk Admin Team at (608) 265-5600, option #2, and say that they are a CALS student interested in meeting with the embedded mental health provider. Students can still make an Access appointment online at MyUHS if they prefer, but note that they do not have to wait if they call and can get scheduled directly.
