Students, faculty and staff: Submit entries for the 2025 Data Viz Championship by Jan. 9
International Love Data Week is a celebration of data held each year during the week of Valentine’s Day. While February is still a few months away, the organizing for UW–Madison’s Love Data Week is in full swing.
Announcing 2025 Data Viz Championship
UW–Madison students, faculty, and staff are invited to showcase their data visualization skills and compete for the 2025 BTAA (Big Ten Academic Alliance) Data Viz Champion title during Love Data Week this year from February 10-14, 2025.
- Student Contest: Students must use the U.S. National Park Visit Data (1979-2023)—Responsible Datasets in Context to produce a data visualization for submission.
- Faculty/Staff Contest: Faculty and staff may submit an existing visualization in their area of expertise or create a visualization using the theme of the Big Ten (e.g., athletics, enrollment data, etc.).
The BTAA Data Viz Championship and FAQ provide additional details.
Entries are submitted via a Google form and are due by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025. All submissions must include:
- thumbnail image of the entry,
- visualization title,
- short description (no more than 250 words), and
- publicly available URL.
From UW-Madison’s submitted visualizations, a group of campus faculty, staff and leadership will select one student and one faculty/staff data viz to represent UW–Madison at the virtual Data Viz Showcase held during Love Data Week. The date and time will be announced shortly.
