Transition to 1Password coming Dec. 2

This email was sent by DoIT Communications to LastPass users on behalf of the Office of Cybersecurity on Nov. 6.

Colleagues,

On December 2, we will transition from LastPass to 1Password as our recommended password manager. Since you have been identified as a LastPass user, we wanted to make sure you were aware of this impending change.

Why

Our decision to switch to 1Password stems from its:

  • excellent track record in safeguarding sensitive data
  • user-friendly interface
  • robust set of features

All of these elements align with the broad range of security and convenience needs at UW–Madison.

Next steps

In the coming days, current LastPass users will receive instructions on how to set up a 1Password account and migrate existing LastPass passwords to the new system.

We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and will provide ample resources to support and assist you through this process. Change can be difficult and frustrating, but we firmly believe that this step is essential for keeping UW–Madison, and you, safe.

More details will be provided soon. In the meantime, feel free to review this 1Password knowledgebase article or reach out to 1passwordadmins@office365.wisc.edu with any questions.

Thank you for your commitment to maintaining the highest level of security for UW–Madison.
