Suicide prevention resources from UHS for Suicide Prevention Month and beyond
September is Suicide Prevention Month and a good reminder to reflect on the role we play in supporting student mental health, preventing suicide and cultivating a community of care. It’s also an opportunity to refresh our support skills and knowledge of mental health resources on campus.
UHS has provided the following resources:
- A press release on Suicide Prevention Month.
- A website with suicide prevention resources for students, faculty and staff, including free online training opportunities.
UHS offers online suicide prevention training for Undergraduate and Graduate and Professional Students, as well as Faculty and Staff on Canvas. The training takes around one hour to complete, and you can start, stop and return to it at your own pace.
Also, UHS offers no-cost mental health services for students, including individual and group counseling, psychiatry, stress management and 24/7 crisis services.
