Civic engagement and teaching workshops – Aug. 13 & 15

The  Morgridge Center for Public Service is hosting topical workshops in preparation for the semester, especially relevant to instructors.

Preparing for your Community-based Learning Course | Aug. 13
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Zoom
This workshop is designed for current or future instructors of community-based learning courses and will review essential elements of structuring such a course. This interactive learning environment will provide participants the opportunity to explore shared challenges and practices, while also reviewing relevant topics such as critical reflection, student engagement, assessment, and more.

Voting and the College Classroom | Aug. 15
3:00 – 4:00 p.m. | Morgridge Center for Public Service (716 Langdon) 
It’s an election year and reminding students to exercise their civic voice is a lesson relevant to any discipline. This workshop, hosted by the Morgridge Center for Public Service, will review university policies around accommodating student civic participation (i.e. voting or working the polls), share campus voter registration resources and tools for integrating civic learning. RSVP preferred.
