Apply for Morgridge Fellows program by May 17
The Morgridge Fellows program provides a learning community for faculty, staff, and graduate students to deepen their practice in Community-Engaged Scholarship. Community-Engaged scholarship (CES) is defined as: teaching, research, and scholarly activities that are performed in equitable, mutually beneficial collaboration with communities and community members to fulfill campus and community objectives.
Another goal of the program is to further institutionalize and support Community-Engaged Scholarship at the UW-Madison. Some examples of topics the learning community will cover include: cultivating equitable relationships, community-based teaching pedagogies, and institutionalizing a community-engaged campus.
Experience with CES is not needed to apply. Prospective fellows should have a project or goal for their time in the learning community, such as developing a Community-based Learning course, community-based research project, or furthering institutional support for CES in their area of campus.
This year, the program is collaborating with UW-Extension, opening up opportunities to learn more about the Division of Extension and engage with existing community-university partnerships. As such, they especially welcome applicants interested in the focus areas associated with Extension’s Community Development Institute:
- Cooperatives
- Community food systems
- Community Economic Development
- Local Government
- Organizational Leadership
