Reminder: Faculty and staff invited to indicate interest in serving on CALS committees by Mar. 8

This email was sent to CALS academic staff, faculty and university staff on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Dear CALS Faculty and Staff-

College of Agricultural and Life Sciences committees are an important part of shared governance at UW-Madison. Shared governance is a unique aspect of campus life that provides an opportunity to take part in making decisions concerning the operation of the university. CALS committees span a variety of topics including research, instruction, diversity, international programs, wellness, and more.

If you would like to be considered for current and future committee openings in the college, please complete the committee interest survey at: Qualtrics. The survey provides a list of committees for each appointment type. For consideration in 2024-2025, please complete the survey by March 8, 2024. If you have answered this survey in the past, we encourage you to complete the survey again if your interests have changed or if you have not completed the survey within the last three months.

Indicating your interest is not in any way binding. As seats open on your committees of interest, a member of the Dean’s Office may contact you to further explore your potential participation. The Dean’s Office selection process is based on your expressed interest and on creating committee compositions that reflect the diversity of perspectives in the college.

Regular appointments to college committees are made in the spring. Please note that not every committee has openings for new members every year and that some committees are not reflected in this survey.

Committee participation is a great way for colleagues to grow personally and professionally, to meet others outside their units, to learn more about the college, and to have a voice in college issues. If you have an interest in committee service, please take a moment to complete the survey.

Thank you.

Tara Darga on behalf of the CALS Dean’s Office
