Nominations open for 2024 Wisconsin Idea Seminar
The call for nominations is open for the 2024 Wisconsin Idea Seminar, which is set to run May 13–17, 2024.
Because nominations for this program require Dean’s Office approval, there are some CALS-specific guidelines to follow. Specifically: In addition to the full nomination form required by campus, please also provide a short paragraph describing how the experience will benefit the nominee. Please send both the full nomination form and the short paragraph to Tara Darga by email or interdepartmental mail. Forms must be received by Jan. 22, 2024). Upon Dean’s Office approval, completed forms will be sent to the Provost’s Office to finish the application process.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
The Wisconsin Idea Seminar is a 5-day immersive tour of Wisconsin for UW–Madison faculty and academic staff to engage with Wisconsinites, build relationships, and learn about the educational, industrial, social, and political realities of Wisconsin.
Participants become students of Wisconsin life to learn about the state they serve. They return to campus both inspired by a renewed commitment to the Wisconsin Idea and more knowledgeable about the spaces and places from which many of our students originate.
The 2024 Wisconsin Idea Seminar’s theme is “Rivers Journey,” and the tour will include stops at some of Wisconsin’s large and small river cities.
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
The Seminar is designed for UW–Madison faculty and academic staff, with an emphasis on faculty and staff who are new to Wisconsin or new to their role on campus. Individuals may nominate themselves with support from their department chairs or divisional directors. Please feel free to forward this message to colleagues.
