Oct. 10 marks World Mental Health Day
October 10 is World Mental Health Day. It is an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness of mental health issues and advocate against social stigma.
Below are some resources we have shared in the past and felt should be shared again.
University Health Services (UHS) has put together training and education for faculty and staff, which provides information on recognizing, responding or referring students who may be exhibiting behaviors of concern. Additionally, UHS has an entire webpage devoted to keeping faculty and staff aware of resources available when faculty and staff notice students who may be struggling, or experiencing issues and concerns affecting the student’s performance, interactions or functioning.
Additionally, the Employee Assistance Office (EAO) offers services including personal counseling, workplace consultation, and well-being coaching and training. The EAO also partners with LifeMatters, which is another confidential resource for assistance. LifeMatters provides 24/7/365 phone coverage and statewide access to confidential counseling and consultation. LifeMatters can be reached by phone at 1-800-634-6433 or on their website at www.mylifematters.com (sign in code is Bucky1).
Make your mental health a priority. Check-in with a friend, peer, or co-worker to see how they are doing. Honor self-care and do something for yourself that makes you smile. Be well!
